Which Blood is Niddah Blood

Only uterine blood can make a woman niddah or have the halachot of a ketem. Blood that originated from the outside of the cervix or from the vaginal canal does not render a woman niddah. If a woman can identify a non-uterine source for the blood found, the woman is not niddah.

If, when doing a bedikah, a woman feels pain or discomfort, or if one finds a ketem at an unusual time, this may be a sign that the blood is non-uterine and a rabbi should be consulted.
