Can Tzitzit strings be cut shorter (ex. When they are too long for a child)?

A – Yes
Q – Kavod HaRav, regarding the tzitzit strings being cut shorter, is there an inyan that one can use metal to cut them before they’re made onto a garment, but once they’re tied as tzitzit if they want to make them shorter, they should use their teeth? Or non metal knife (ceramic)?
A – Yes, better with teeth
Some say better with teeth than anything else but if hard then yes with ceramic or plastic
