Amirah Liakum

In your recent newsletter about Amira Le’akum, I got confused about the two examples you give at the end:
– In the event that the thermostat was set before Shabbat to a low number….but there aren’t small children and no risk of getting sick…one ISN’T ALLOWED ASK OR EVEN HINT to a Goi to raise the temperature.
– But if there is an electric heater which is working at all times on a low degree, ONE IS PERMITTED TO HINT TO A GOI…
Why is there a difference if the thermostat was set before Shabbat or it is an electric heater which is working at all times on a low degree? In both casses, the temperature is low and you want the Goi to raise the temperature?
Thank you.

Hello.

The difference between them is as follows, when the heater was on at all times from before shabbos, the goi isn’t creating a new benefit. Rather, he is adding to a preexisting benefit.

All the Best
