The Magen Avraham notes that, according to the plain halacha, there is a view that a woman may go bareheaded in a courtyard where men are not found. He then adds that the Zohar (Parashat Naso) is very strict that not a single hair of a woman should be seen, and he concludes that it is proper to follow this. The Mishnah Berurah quotes the Zohar more fully. A woman should be so careful that “even the beams of her house should not see one hair of her head.” The Zohar promises that her children will be distinguished and her husband blessed with every blessing. The Mishnah Berurah also cites the Magen Avraham that it is proper to act like the Zohar.
- Mishnah Berurah 75:14 — cites the Zohar, Parashat Naso, that a woman should take care that even the beams of her house not see a single hair. He adds the blessings promised for this and the Magen Avraham’s ruling that it is proper to follow the Zohar.
- Magen Avraham 75:4 — although a courtyard without men may be lenient, the Zohar (Naso) is very strict that no hair of a woman be seen, and so it is proper to practice.
