I have an under bas-mitzvah daughter who I never formally named during an aliya or otherwise (long story). She does have a Jewish name. Do I need to name her NOW after an aliyah or in front of a minyan? Is there an alternative as those are both embarrassing propositions for me.

You do not need to rename her at all. A girl’s name is based on what she is called by the people around her. The naming at the Torah is preferable, but it is not mandatory.
A boy, on the other hand, must be named with a minyan, because his name is used for an aliyah, it needs to be more official.
