Hello, I read your q&a about using an urn on shabbos, the Rabbi stated that one would need to boil the water before shabbos then leave it above 160 degrees. My urn has a thermostat but doesn’t reach the boiling point at all. the highest the water would reach is approximately 190-195. would it be permitted for me to use this urn on shabbos ?
Hi,
You may use the urn on Shabbos, since the water will not get more cooked at a higher temperature once it reaches 160 degrees.
All the best
